Among other things I hated while growing up, school was the greatest - Majid

Actor Majid Michel in an interview with CNN African Voices says that, among other things he hated while growing up, going to school is the greatest.

“Growing up, I did not like school, I hated it and was only interested in watching movies,” he said.

The Amakye and Dede actor in the interview also narrated how his acting journey started.

According to him, a neighbor introduced him to a modeling agency who was then scouting for new faces for adverts on both radio and television.
He tried and failed for the first time but that did not stop him from pursing something he had grown to love over the years. On that note, after bagging his first role in the television series; Things We Do For Love, he went to two film schools within five years and came back a better person.

“I remember after my come back from the Things We Do For Love series, I had a lot of positive reviews about my acting, people were saying, I had improved and all but what they did not know is that, it’s a sum of all I learnt and was trained for in school,” he said.

Michel is one of the Ghanaian actors who got into the film industry during the period in which Frank Rajah Arase signed a contract with Ghana’s Abdul Salam Mumuni of Venus Films. The contract basically involved introducing Ghanaian actors into the mainstream Nollywood film industry and making them have a star power comparable to Nigerian actors.

Films produced under this contract which featured Michel include: Crime to Christ, Agony of Christ , Heart of Men,The Game and Who Loves Me.
