The Ghana Education Service (GES) has dismissed media reports that some students of the Wesley Girls Senior High School in Cape Coast, have been caught by school authorities practicing occultism.

According to the GES, there is no occultic group functioning in the school but that the students were found with a book that had different doctrines from the Christian beliefs of the school.

This follows a meeting held by the GES on Tuesday with the headmistress of the school after news broke that 22 were allegedly caught practising occultism.
The students, mostly in their first and second years, were reportedly caught during an initiation ceremony for new entrants into the group.

But speaking on Citi FM, the Public Relations Officer of the GES, Reverend Jonathan Bettey said the book titled, “The Ministry of Angels and How to activate them” were retrieved from the students and that the students had been warned against the use of such materials.

“There is no occultic group functioning in the school. The said book was in circulation in the school according to the headmistress. When she was notified, she rallied round all the students in the school and emptied their luggage and gathered all the books,” Reverend Bettey said.

“She is saying that it was a senior student together with some people in other schools in the town that were patronizing the book. So when they were caught, the children were warned against the use of those things and all the books that were found were collected from the students,” he added.
